Giles York resignation

Mae'r ymateb i'r cais hwn yn hwyr iawn. Yn ôl y gyfraith, ym mhob amgylchiad, dylai Sussex Police fod wedi ymateb erbyn hyn. (manylion). Gallwch gwyno drwy yn gofyn am adolygiad mewnol.

Dear Sussex Police,

Some mystery remains behind the premature resignation of Giles York which appears to have come completely out of the blue.

It is rumour in the community and I seek clarification on the following:

Was Giles York involved in an incident prior to resignation with his Police driver, where the pair stumbled across an incident, the pair made an arrest of a person, the person taken to custody and subsequently died prematurely?

Is the IOPC involved in this death in custody report?

Will an investigation follow by Sussex Police in to Giles York and his actions / inactions and any cause/effect on the premature death?

Why has a resignation been permitted if an investigation has commenced?

Yours faithfully,

Sussex Police

Dear Tom,

Thank you for your request which was received by Sussex Police.

This request will be dealt with under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and you will receive a response within the statutory timescale of 20 working days as defined by the Act, from the date of receipt. In some circumstances Sussex Police may be unable to achieve this deadline. If this is likely you will be informed and given a revised time-scale at the earliest opportunity.

Some requests may also require either full or partial transference to another public authority in order to answer your query in the fullest possible way. Again, you will be informed if this is the case.

Please Note:
Sussex Police are currently receiving a high volume of FOI requests at a time of reduced staffing levels to process them. Every effort is being made to comply with the statutory 20 working day response deadline but on occasions this may not be possible – we apologise for the inconvenience this may cause.

Yours sincerely
