Dear Wan Ulfa Nur Zuhra

I am writing in response to your request under the Freedom of Information
Act 2000.  Please see our response to your questions below.

1.       Please inform me of the number of disciplinary actions taken
against students resulting in a fine and/or expulsion in the last five
academic years, the reasons for such action being taken, and the results
of any appeal.

Please see the attached spreadsheet that lists the number of disciplinary
actions taken against students and the reason why.  The types of
misconduct are detailed in paragraph 8 of Regulation XVII (Conduct and
Discipline of Students)
([1]http://documents.manchester.ac.uk/DocuIn...). The
spreadsheet refers to the types of misconduct that students were excluded
for.

There have been no fines recorded as having been imposed by the UDSP.

The information for the 2017-18 academic year will be available in the
senate report next year.

2.        In those academic years (2013 to 2017), How many of those are
the case where a ghostwriter involve? (for ex: assignment or dissertation
were written by somebody else)

Data not held.

3.        How to find out that ghostwriter involvement since many
ghostwriter organisations offer the plagiarism checking?

Data not held.

4.        Is there any case where your staff involved in that unfair
practice, being a ghostwriter for the student? Please give the details
about those cases.

Data not held.

In relation to points 2-4 all that can be identified is whether a student
committed academic malpractice (specifically 8(k) of Regulation XVII) and
this is listed in the spreadsheet.

I hope this information is useful.

Best wishes

Holly
