Dear Teesside University,

On 5 March, I sent a request under the Freedom of Information and I haven't got any answer until now. May I know why? Because by law, under all circumstances, the authority should have responded no longer than 20 working days.

Yours faithfully,

Dear requestor

Please accept my apologies for the delay in communicating with you about
your request. The University endeavours to respond to all information
requests within the prescribed timeframes, however this has not been
possible on this occasion due to long term staff absence.

In order to respond to your request the University requires clarification
from you with respect to question 3 as follows:

Your request:

‘3. How to find out that ghostwriter involvement since many ghostwriter
organisations offer the plagiarism checking?’

Clarification required:

Please could you review the wording of this question as it doesn’t seem to
make sense. Are you asking what the method of detection was in any case in
which the University has identified ghost writing i.e. was it via a
particular piece of software or was it identified by a member of staff, or
are you asking generally what methodology the University applies to the
detection of cases of academic misconduct such as ghost writing?

Your request is now on hold pending the above clarification. Following
receipt of the clarification requested, the University will provide a
response within 20 calendar days as prescribed by the FOI Act 2000.

Kind regards

Catherine
