Dear Halton Borough Council,

Can you let me know what was the participation rate before and after the green waste program was started we’re households started to pay.
Has the weight increased?

Dear Catherine

Please find below information in response to your recent request.

Can you let me know what was the participation rate before and after the
green waste program was started we’re households started to pay.

We are unable to provide information on participation rates prior to the
introduction of a charge for the garden waste collection service as this
information was not recorded and is therefore not held. I can advise that
participation rates in each of the full years following the introduction
of the charge are as follows;

2015/16 - 37%

2016/17 - 41%

2017/18 - 40%

2018/19 - 39%

Has the weight increased?

No – The annual tonnage of garden waste collection has fallen.

How much has it saved the authority since it was started?

The income received from charging is used to help cover the costs
associated with providing the service and therefore represents the saving
to the Council. Since the introduction of the charge in 2015, the total
net income received (including to date this financial year) is
£2,294,010.98.

Regards
