Please can you tell me how many students - in the past three years - your university has:

Dear Mr Cairns,

I write further to your request for information dated 26 June 2019.  This
request has been handled by the University in accordance with its duties
and obligations under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 ("FOIA").

You requested details of:
How many students - in the past three years - your university has:

i) treated for depression/anxiety caused by gambling addiction;

ii) encountered with financial problems caused by gambling debts

Your request is refused under s.12(1). London Metropolitan University does
not store the requested information centrally. To locate and extract the
requested information would involve having to go through the individual
files of students who have used the counselling service and/or student
money advice. And to see whether any issues they may have raised are
related to gambling. As your request covers a 3 year period, this would
involve hundreds of students. This will exceed the appropriate limit of 18
hours (£450), as set out in the Freedom of Information (Appropriate Limit
and Fees) Regulations 2004 and your request is therefore refused.
If you are not satisfied with the handling of your request, you may
request an internal review.  Internal review requests should be submitted
within two months of the date of receipt of the response to your original
letter by writing to:
