foi, Croydon Primary Care Trust (PCT)

Dear Mr Lovell,

Thank you for your correspondence, which is being treated as a request under the Freedom of Information Act.

Please accept this email as an acknowledgement. We aim to send you a reply to your request as soon as possible and no later than 20 days after receipt of your correspondence. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. The reference number for your case, which is in the subject line, should be quoted in all correspondence related to this case.

You have recently sent in similar correspondence asking for details of which hospitals in Croydon provide procedures relating to gall stone removal.

Although I will initiate searches for this, I should advise that this sort of information does not seem to be held by the PCT and that, as I have previously advised, it may be more speedy for you to direct all such queries to local hospitals, contact details for which are available at www.nhs.uk.

I should also add that information about private providers, unless there is a specific contract to have this service delivered by such a provider, is not routinely collected by the NHS. Although not a public sector source of information, it may be helpful to refer you to http://www.drfosterhealth.co.uk/hospital... for lists of private hospitals, which can be contacted for information about their procedures.

Yours sincerely,

Dear Mr Lovell,

I am writing in response for your request for internal review of Bilal Ghafoor's reply email of 9 January (our ref: FOI13-510) and related emails.

Please accept this as a reply to all of your correspondence on gallstone removal/lithotripsy/ESWL FOI requests and internal reviews - I note that there are several cases open on www.whatdotheyknow.com and that some of the audit trails have become tangled. I should also note that the 20 day deadline for first instance cases and internal reviews has been adhered to. The clock starts ticking on the first working day that the request has been received and thereafter only working days are counted.

I have discussed this with senior colleagues who have assured me that we hold no record of whether or which hospitals (whether NHS or private) undertake any sorts of gallstone removals/lithotripsy/ESWL or allied or similar procedures, and therefore no specific contract details of which medical staff may be involved in such procedures.

NHS Croydon is a primary care trust and therefore commissions healthcare. The sort of information that you have requested may be held by NHS hospitals. You may therefore wish to contact Croydon University Hospital, contact details for which are at http://www.croydonhealthservices.nhs.uk/....

If you are not content with the outcome of your internal review, you may apply directly to the Information Commissioner (ICO) for a decision. Generally, the ICO cannot make a decision unless you have exhausted the local complaints procedure. Further information about your rights, as well as contact details for the ICO are available at www.ico.gov.uk/complaints/freedom_of_inf....

Your sincerely,
