Gairnshiel Bridge

The request was successful.

Dear Aberdeenshire Council,

I'd like all correspondence in relation to the funding for the above bridge between Peter Argyle and any chief officer of Aberdeenshire Council including but not limited to the chief executive.

Also I'd like to know the source of funds in relation to the replacement bridge and the timeline including any committee reports.

Where this bridge was in relation to the priority of replacing Bridges in Aberdeenshire as the council has a lot of Bridges.

Yours faithfully,

John Smith

ISFOI, Aberdeenshire Council

Dear Mr Smith

Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004

We refer to your request dated 14/12/2020 for the following information on
Gairnshiel Bridge.

We confirm that the Council holds the following information, which we
believe satisfies your request, and which is as noted below:

There is no correspondence between any Chief Officer of the Council and
Peter Argyle, specifically with respect to Gairnshiel Bridge.

The new bridge at Gairnshiel will be funded from the Council’s Capital
Plan 2020/2035 from the Line “Bridges and Structures” in the
“Infrastructure Services” Section. There is no fixed timeline for
replacement, however it is expected that the Works will proceed as soon as
practicable following completion of all necessary Pre Work stages and only
if funding remains available. There are no committee reports solely
dealing with Gairnshiel Bridge however, an allocation for continuing the
design of the new bridge was included in the annual reporting of
bridgeworks 2020/2021 to the Marr Area Committee back in March 2020.

A replacement bridge is a very high priority on account of its critical
structural condition and on the relevance of the A939 in providing a key
transport link between Upper Deeside and Upper Donside and on into
Speyside, with large detours necessary should the bridge require to be
closed to all vehicles on grounds of public safety.

Please contact me as the officer responsible for responding to your
request if you have any further queries.

If, for any reason, you are not satisfied with this response, please refer
to the further information attached.

Yours faithfully

Freedom of Information Co-ordinator
Infrastructure Services
