Under the Freedom of Information Act I am requesting the following:

2. The standards and requirements for placing a person or address onto the frequent caller list, and for removing a person or address from a frequent caller list.

3. The total number of persons or addresses on a frequent caller list for the years 2018, 2017 and 2016.

4. The number of calls made from those persons or addresses prior to and after being placed on a frequent caller list.

Dear Mr Holden,

In response to you Freedom of Information request please find the answers
to your questions below:

1. Any policies and guidance regarding the operation of a frequent caller
service - please see the trust's policy attached.

2. The standards and requirements for placing a person or address onto the
frequent caller list, and for removing a person or address from a frequent
caller list - Information regarding this is contained within the attached
trust policy. The nationally agreed definition of a frequent caller is
defined as someone aged 18 or over who make five or more emergency calls
relating to individual episodes of care in a month or twelve or more
emergency calls related to individual episodes of care in three months
from a private dwelling. Additionally within North West Ambulance Service,
if an individual under 18 is identified safeguarding procedures are
followed where appropriate.

3. The total number of persons or addresses on a frequent caller list for
the years 2018, 2017 and 2016

 NWAS – frequent callers
(financial year) Total
01/04/2016 - 31/03/2017 1674
01/04/2017 - 31/03/2018 1853
01/04/2018 - 31/03/2019 1962

This data reflects addresses that have triggered as a frequent caller.

4. The number of calls made from those persons or addresses prior to and
after being placed on a frequent caller list – It is not possible to
report the number of incidents/calls without reviewing every single
individual patient report form, which as you can appreciate would exceed
the 18 hour appropriate limit as outlined by the Freedom of Information
Act. Additionally, calls for a frequent caller may be from  different
addresses / locations and another person may make the call on their
behalf.

5. The number of times an emergency resource was dispatched to a person or
address prior to and after it was placed on a frequent caller list – as
above.

I hope this information is of assistance.

Kind regards

Caroline Turner
