Dear Higher Education Statistics Agency,
For the latest academic year for which you have figures please could you provide me with the 50 higher education institutions that have the highest number of non-EU enrolment? Please state the name of the institution and the number of non-EU students at that institution? For guidance it would be useful if the answer could take the same format as Parliamentary Written Answer 170438.
Could you also state which higher education institution has the highest number of students enrolled at it from the following countries: India, China, Russia, United States, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Turkey, South Korea and Taiwan. For each nationality please state the institution where the most attend and the numbers of that nationality enrolled at that institution.
Dear Mr Davis,
Thank you for your enquiry. HESA is not subject to the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 as it is an independent company, owned by its
members, and not deemed to be a public authority. However we will always
try to answer any enquiries.
Information on the number of Non-EU domiciled students at each UK
publicly funded higher education institution (and, additionally, the
privately-funded University of Buckingham) can be found on our website
The table you will require is available for download as a Microsoft
Excel spreadsheet file for a number of academic years. The most recent
data available is for the 2007/08 academic year, and is located in the
'Institution-level' section of that page.
The table does not currently provide a single column giving a total of
non-EU students for each institution: a breakdown is given for both
postgraduate and undergraduate students. Adding these two figures, and
sorting them in descending numerical order, will give you the
information you require.
I hope this information is useful to you.
