Dear Merseytravel,

Under the Freedom of Information Act I would like to request the following details please:

1) The number of FOIA requests received by Merseytravel for the year 2017 (if you do not report per calendar year please could you provide the last full reporting year figures);
2) The number of FOIA requests responded to on-time for the reporting period detailed in 1) above
3) The number of SAR requests received by Merseytravel for the year 2017 (if you do not report per calendar year please could you provide the last full reporting year figures);
4) The number of CCTV requests received by Merseytravel for the year 2017 (if you do not report per calendar year please could you provide the last full reporting year figures);
5) The number of staff that Merseytravel employs to handle FOIA, SAR and CCTV requests; and
6) If Merseytravel has a appointed a Data Protection Officer for the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation?
7) If the answer to 6) is yes, the name and contact details of the Data Protection Officer

Thank you for your recent request, which has been processed under the Freedom of Information Act. Please find Merseytravel’s response below.

1) The number of FOIA requests received by Merseytravel for the year 2017 (if you do not report per calendar year please could you provide the last full reporting year figures);

Merseytravel received a total of 58 requests under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 in 2017.

2) The number of FOIA requests responded to on-time for the reporting period detailed in 1) above

All requests were responded to on time.

3) The number of SAR requests received by Merseytravel for the year 2017 (if you do not report per calendar year please could you provide the last full reporting year figures);

Merseytravel received a total of 101 subject access requests made under the Data Protection Act 1998 in 2017.

4) The number of CCTV requests received by Merseytravel for the year 2017 (if you do not report per calendar year please could you provide the last full reporting year figures);

All requests received under the Data Protection Act 1998 were responded to on time.

Requests for CCTV are handled in accordance with the relevant provisions of Act, and reported along with other all requests for personal information. The majority of the subject access requests referred to above were for CCTV footage.

Merseytravel received 61 requests for the disclosure of personal information under Section 29 (criminal investigations) and Section 35 (legal proceedings) of the Act. Again, the majority of these were for CCTV footage.

If you would like a specific figure for the number of requests for CCTV, I would be grateful if you could clarify in accordance with Section 1(3) of the FOIA whether this is to include all requests or just those that were not subject access requests.

5) The number of staff that Merseytravel employs to handle FOIA, SAR and CCTV requests; and

One staff member, the Senior Information Management Officer, is responsible for the day to day handling of FOIA and Data Protection requests. This work is assisted by colleagues across Merseytravel and Mersey Tunnels Police, who administer the organisation’s CCTV network.

6) If Merseytravel has a appointed a Data Protection Officer for the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation?

Merseytravel has not yet appointed a Data Protection Officer for the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation.

7) If the answer to 6) is yes, the name and contact details of the Data Protection Officer
