FOI for all information and material regarding the murder investigation of Ross Parker

The request was refused by Cambridgeshire Constabulary.

Dear Cambridgeshire Constabulary,

Please could you release to me a copy of any files you hold on the Ross Parker murder case, of which I intend to use for an article and future book to highlight radicalisation and the good work that your team did to catch the murderers and bring them to justice.

If you could also direct me to where I can obtain police interview transcripts or recordings, as well as trial transcripts, I'd be extremely grateful.

Yours faithfully,

Jay Beecher

Dear Jay Beecher,

I am writing in response to your request for information, received 4th
September.

Yours sincerely,

Dear Cambridgeshire Constabulary,

Please kindly pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Cambridgeshire Constabulary's handling of my FOI request 'FOI for all information and material regarding the murder investigation of Ross Parker'.

I'm a journalist who is writing a book on the tragic death of Ross Parker, and have interviewed his former partner, who is also keen to see the case files.

My FOI request was denied and I was told that the administration costs to retrieve the information and send it to me would exceed the cost limit.
I did offer to pay whatever the cost was, but this was also refused - and I was also denied to be able to purchase parts of the information (e.g. police interviews).

The ICO states: "However, you must give the requester reasonable advice and assistance to refine (change or narrow) their request. This will generally involve explaining why the limit would be exceeded and what information, if any, may be available within the limits."

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/f...

Please could you look into this matter. I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully,

Jay Beecher

COOPER, James 8906,

Good afternoon

As per our original response letter to submit a request for an internal review you must do so within two months of receipt of the response letter itself, the response to your request was sent back in September 2020 and therefore we consider this case closed.

Thank you

Dear COOPER, James 8906,

Thanks for your response.

Could you please inform me if I can submit a new request, altering the request slightly to only ask for a copy of the interview transcripts, and any recordings you have in relation to the case of Ross Parker, or if another journalist I know who is interested in the story and wants the information is able to submit his own FOI request for the material.

Yours sincerely,

Jay Beecher
