+Do you offer any support or counselling services for students? Y/N
+Do you have an institution wide policy/guidance regarding caring for students following a bereavement? Y/N

+How much money did you allocate to counselling and support services for bereavement per year (Jan 2016-Jan 2019)?

Terry Hutchinson,

Hello
Please find below response;
+Do you offer special provisions for counselling services for students
Yes we offer a College Counselling Service which is open Monday - Friday
excluding Bank Holiday and a Christmas Closure (limited availability
during holidays).

+specific to bereavement? Y/N Do you offer any support or counselling
Yes as above

+services for students? Y/N Do you have an institution  wide
+policy/guidance regarding caring for students following a bereavement?
Not specific to bereavement but to all concerns students may have in
relation to psychological care and wellbeing.

Y/N Do your policies or practices exclusively relate to support for
students who have lost parents or does your support factor in other forms
of bereavement, such as losing a sibling?
As above

+Can you tell me what special provision you have for offering extensions
and academic breaks in study after a bereavement?
All requests for academic breaks are considered on their merits, there
isn't anything specific for bereavement but of course the college is very
sympathetic to individuals in these unfortunate circumstances

+How much money did you allocate to counselling and support services for
bereavement per year (Jan 2016-Jan 2019)?
There is a allocated budget of £153964.84 (per academic year) but not
specific to bereavement

+If you feel you would like to offer an opinion, would you say your
institution feels you are offered enough from the Government in order to
support students who have experienced bereavement while studying?
Yes
For additional information, in 2018/19 academic year the college
counselling service supported 51 student clients who brought issues of
bereavement to the  service, 11% of our total student clients for the year
(453)
