Dear Solicitors Regulation Authority,
I emailed Ms Katherine Sheldrick at Hempsons solicitors for the following information which I have not received under the FOI act
I have asked twice for this information. I have not received it yet
How are expert witnesses sourced by solicitors to appear as experts before the General Medical Council or in other cases of medical negligence
Is there a list of expert witnesses somewhere.
Do people pay and get their names on a website and is this all it takes to say you are an expert?
Do solicitors choose these people to appear because they are cheap?
Dr Finella Brito-Babapulle
Dear Dr Brito-Babapulle
Thank you for your email of 30 August 2017.
We are unable to answer your enquiry. The Solicitors Regulation Authority
does not become involved in how or who solicitors use as (expert)
witnesses. There is no official list or centralised record kept by us.
If you have any other queries please contact us.
