Fleet list and equipment in those appliances

The request was partially successful.

Brandon Tomlinson

Dear West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service,

Im writing to you today to ask if i would be allowed to know the current West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service fleet and the equipment in those fleet vehicles. Im making this request as i'am part of a roleplay community were we base our self's off West Yorkshire as a county and im in charge of running West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service and i was wondering if i would be allowed the requested information, this is i can use that information to make our community more realistic and be able to train my firefighters and help us get a better understanding of the equipment and appliances used by West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue in real life and also because im interested in West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service and have always struggled to find current and up to date information on the internet. I know this sounds a unusual and strange request but i would greatly appreciate it if you would be able to give me some information. And sorry for the hassle of asking this request in the current state the UK is in.

Yours faithfully,

Brandon Tomlinson

In regards to equipment, we are withholding information related to vehicle
equipment, under Section 31(1) (a) of the Act (law enforcement) which
covers all aspects of the prevention and detection of crime. Section 31 is
a qualified exemption, which means it is subject to a public interest
test. We consider that disclosure would not be in the interest of the
prevention and detection of crime as disclosure of the requested
information may enable those with a criminal intent the opportunity to
target the appliances/vehicles. We acknowledge the public interest in
openness and transparency. We also appreciate that disclosure of this
information would provide appropriate transparency and reassurance
regarding the level of capability in West Yorkshire and may also enhance
public confidence in the fire and rescue service. However, for the reasons
outlined we have concluded that the balance of public interest favours
withholding this information.

*Section 21 - Information accessible to applicant by other means.
(1) Information which is reasonably accessible to the applicant otherwise
than under section 1 is exempt information.
(2) For the purposes of subsection (1), information -

information which the public authority or any other person is obliged by
or under any enactment to communicate (otherwise than by making the
information available for inspection) to members of the public on request,
whether free of charge or on payment.
(3) For the purposes of subsection (1), information which is held by a
public authority and does not fall within subsection (2)(b) is not to be
regarded as reasonably accessible to the applicant merely because the
information is available from the public authority itself on request,
unless the information is made available in accordance with the
authority's publication scheme and any payment required is specified in,
or determined in accordance with, the scheme.
