Fires at Forestry Commission Sites

The request was successful.

Dear Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service,

Could you please tell me how many calls to fires were attended each year, for the past five years, for the following Forestry Commission sites:

- Arley Wood
- Hay Wood
- Oversley Wood
- May’s Wood
- Weston and Waverley Wood

I am aware that sometimes incidents are reported vaguely such as "the woods off of London Road" without the full address. Please could you do your best to capture these incidents too when they are on Forestry Commission land. Could you also include any other Forestry Commission sites that you cover that I may have missed please.

Yours faithfully,

L. Mesi

Dear Warwickshire County Council,

Dear Warwickshire County Council,

In regards to my FOI request, I have been trying to find digital maps to assist with my request and capture Forestry Commission land that hasn't been listed, as well as show the boundaries of the land. I have been told by the Forestry Commission that "The information you seek is publicly available. There are a number of online sources that provide details of Forestry Commission sites, including: the Forestry Commission map browser and Land Information Search available at
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/use-the-land...
Or the Defra MAGIC map available at https://magic.defra.gov.uk/ "

I hope this will assist you further in fulfilling my request.

Yours sincerely,

L. Mesi

Dear Warwickshire County Council,

Thank you for providing the information related to my request. If I may ask a couple questions:

1. I noticed the data from 2017 begins 01 Apr 2017. Would you be able to tell me why data from 01 Jan 2017 through 31 Mar 2017. Was not included?

2. May I also ask if the total times you provided include strictly total incident time or appliance time? For example, if two appliances were called to the same incident, the times for both appliances spent on scene were combined to show overall time spent by resources.

If only total incident times were provided , would you be able to provide appliance time for each incident?

Yours sincerely,

L. Mesi

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your email of 10 March 2022, in reply to our response of
your request for information concerning fires at Forestry Commission
sites.

Please see below, for our responses to the queries you have raised.

"1. I noticed the data from 2017 begins 01 Apr 2017. Would you be able to
tell me why data from 01 Jan 2017 through  31 Mar 2017. Was not included?"

My original understanding, at the time of making our response, was that
this information was not available for the period before April 2012 due to
a change in reporting systems. This was as advised in our response.

However, following further investigation and looking at the old reporting
data, I can advise that for 1^st January 2017 to 31^st March 2017 there
were no incidents on any of the sites listed.

Therefore, the figures provided in our original response would be the same
for 1^st January 2017 to 31^st December 2021.

Please accept my apologies for any confusion or inconvenience caused.

"2. May I also ask if the total times you provided include strictly total
incident time or appliance time? For example, if two appliances were
called to the same incident, the times for both appliances spent on scene
were combined to show overall time spent by resources.

If only total incident times were provided , would you be able to provide
appliance time for each incident?"

 2. Appliance Times (3): 0.25 hours, 0.25 hours, 0.25 hours
 3. Total Appliance Time: 0.75 hours

I trust the information has answered your queries satisfactorily, but
please let me know if you have any further questions.
