Dear Louise

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 - INFORMATION REQUEST

Your request for information has now been considered and I am pleased to
provide you with the below information.

- The number of fires in the construction industry in 2018/19

The national incident recording system (IRS) that English fire and rescue
services use does not contain an option to easily identity if a building
is under construction or construction is ongoing.  It does however contain
the question ‘Is the premises occupied?’  This has an option to choose ‘No
– under construction’.  In 2018/19 we had zero of these recorded.  If a
building was under construction but people living there, the IRS does not
have that option.  These are the choices for the question ‘Is the premises
occupied?’.  This is the only question in the system that makes reference
to construction.

- The number of fires caused by hot works in the construction industry in
2018/19

Zero

- The main causes of hot works incidents in the construction industry

N/A

- The number of injuries and fatalities caused by hot work incidents in
the construction industry.
