Fire fighters attacked at during the year

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Dumfries and Galloway Fire Brigade should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Dumfries and Galloway Fire Brigade,

I am writing to request information under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000. In order to assist you with this request, I
am outlining my query as specifically as possible.

Could you please specify if there are times of year when attacks on
fire fighters are higher. For example, Christmas, bon fire night.
Could detail for the past five years when the attacks have been
more prominent. To clarify I mean for the past five (5) years prior
to the receipt of this email, specifically between 2005 -2010.
By the word attack I mean alleged and confirmed physical and verbal
assault. I am not looking for any information on written
vilification.
I would like a breakdown of attacks which have taken place and
where they have happened. Can you detail these attacks through a
breakdown of each fire and rescue area in Scotland (eg.
Strathclyde, Lothian and Borders etc).
I would like a detailed breakdown of the type of attacks which have
taken place (either proven or alleged), what kind of attack (punch,
kick, slap etc), where the attacks took place (on the street, which
area of the city), and any conviction that has taken place (if this
is in your ability to expand).
I would be interested in any information held by your organisation
regarding my request. I understand that I do not have to specify
particular files or documents and that it is the department's
responsibility to provide the information I require. If you need
further clarification, please contact me by e-mail.

If my request is denied in whole or in part, I ask that you justify
all deletions by reference to specific exemptions of the act. I
will also expect you to release all non-exempt material. I reserve
the right to appeal your decision to withhold any information or to
charge excessive fees.

I would be grateful if you could confirm in writing that you have
received this request. I look forward to your response within 20
working days, as outlined by the statute.

Yours faithfully,

Claire Evans
