Dear The Financial Conduct Authority,

Its noted from the late 80s some financial inst. employed 'herding' practices: effectively designing preferred customer base while dividing and dumping other customers; preferential customers securing 1st class treatment while others secured crap class treatment. Do such things persist today? perhaps 'proliferating' into other industries?

I seek to identify legislation dealing with the same.

Yours faithfully,
t.otty

Customer Contact Centre, The Financial Conduct Authority

Dear Sir / Madam

Thanks for your email to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) on 16 May
2019.   I understand you’d like to find out if authorised firms are using
practices to divided their customer base up in order to provide
preferential service to their preferred customers.

Dividing customer base

I’ve today completed searches of our website and I’ve been unable to
locate any information we’ve published in respect of authorised firms
using practices to divide their customer base up and providing
preferential service to their preferred customers.  However under our high
level [1]Principle Six, a authorised firm must pay due regard to the
interests of its customers and treat them fairly.  An authorised firm may
take a commercial decision to provide a financial product or service to a
specific segment of the market.

I’ll be unable to make comment on which legislation would be applicable in
these circumstances, since I’m not legally trained to provide legal
guidance.   You may wish to contact [2]Citizens Advice for further
information and guidance regarding your consumer rights in relation to
this matter.  Citizens Advice can be contacted on 03454 04 05 06 or by
visiting [3]www.citizensadvice.org.uk.

I hope this information has been useful.

Yours Sincerely

Thanks for your message

It goes on with or without your 'Principle 6'. Any idea who may hold such information?

Dear Customer Contact Centre,

That no legislation exists, is it a matter for you or other to petition government. Do you care to do so?

Dear Sir / Madam

Thanks for your email to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) on 9

If you would legislation introduced in the UK which would prohibit firms
from using practices to divide their customer base up and providing
preferential service to their preferred customers, you may wish to contact
