Roedd y cais yn llwyddiannus.

Dear Care Quality Commission,

I am writing to request a detailed report outlining the specific failures that led to Burrswood Care Home being put into special measures, as per the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Public Interest Statements

Public Health and Safety: The well-being of residents in care homes is a matter of public interest. Understanding the specific failures at Burrswood Care Home can help identify systemic issues that may also be present in other care facilities, thereby potentially improving the health and safety of a vulnerable population.

Accountability: Public and private institutions that are responsible for the care of vulnerable individuals should be held to the highest standards. Releasing this information would contribute to a culture of transparency and accountability.

Use of Public Funds: As public funding is often used to support care homes, it is in the public interest to know how effectively these funds are being used to provide high-quality care. This is especially pertinent given the involvement of Bury Council and the NHS in funding Burrswood Care Home.

Informed Public Debate: The state of care homes has been a topic of public discussion, particularly in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Detailed information about the failures at Burrswood can contribute to a more informed public debate on how to improve care for the elderly and vulnerable.

Regulatory Effectiveness: Understanding the specific failures that led to the CQC's actions can help assess the effectiveness of regulatory bodies in maintaining the quality of care in such institutions. This is crucial for public trust in these bodies.

I look forward to your prompt response within 20 working days, as stipulated by the Freedom of Information Act.

Yours faithfully,

Amanda Hart
