In regards to your request for information dated 10th May, this is not a valid request under Section 8(b) of the Freedom of information act.
LEGISLATION - SECTION 8
(1) In this Act any reference to a ‘request for information’ is a reference to such a request which-
(a) is in writing,
(b) states the name of the applicant and an address for correspondence, and
(c) describes the information requested.

Your request does not meet the requirements under Section 8 (b) and hence is not valid.

I write in connection with regards to your request received in this office
on 12^th May 2022.

I note you seek the following:

 

Please could you confirm if the force is using live and/or retrospective
facial recognition technology, or is planning to in the next 12 months?

 

If you are using facial recognition, which supplier(s) have you contracted
with?

 

Please share copies of your policy, standard operating procedure and DPIA
along with any other related documentation.

 

The force does not currently use live and/or retrospective facial
recognition technology therefore there is no information held regarding
your request above.

 

Cleveland Police are considering it for the future, but any implementation
has not been confirmed.

 

 

The Cleveland Police response to your request is unique and it should be
noted that Police Forces do not use generic systems or identical
procedures to capture and record data therefore responses from Cleveland
Police should not be used as a comparison with any other force response
you receive.

 

If you are not satisfied with this response or any actions taken in
dealing with your request, you have the right to request an independent
internal review of your case under our review procedure. The APP College
of Policing guidance states that a request for internal review should be
made within 20 working days of the date on this response or 40 working
days if extenuating circumstances to account for the delay can be
evidenced.
