Dr Russell Razzaque

Dear South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust,

I am currently conducting some health economics research and would be grateful if you could send me information on how many extra contractual referrals (ECRs) your Trust has made for acute working age adult psychiatric in-patient beds over the last 3 years. This excludes any referrals for specialist or long stay beds – i.e. forensic, rehab or other tertiary referrals - as I am referring only to acute admissions that had to be sent to another Trust (often out of hours – either NHS or private sector) as a result of periodic bed pressures within your own area.

I would also be grateful if you could break the information down as
follows;

i) Totals for each month (over the last 36 months).
ii) Gender ratios (i.e. what percentage was male and what
percentage was female).
iii) Which Trusts you made these referrals to (totals for each
year).

Many thanks in advance.

Yours faithfully,

Dr Russell Razzaque

Please note that the Trust has not made any ECRs during this time period
and therefore we do not hold any relevant information.

I hope this response satisfies your request in full. If you are not
satisfied, you may appeal by setting out your concerns in writing for the
attention of myself, the Information Governance Manager.  In the event
that you remain dissatisfied with the outcome of any appeal, you have the
right to appeal to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), although
they will expect you to exhaust the Trust’s internal complaints policy
before they will consider a case.  For further details see:
