Dear Greater Manchester Police,

I would like to know how many expert witnesses, also known as psychologists or psychiatrists, registered with the GMC or HCPC, and have been employed or self-employed by a local authority to conduct assessments or statements for the family court process and have been reported and / or found guilty of offenses such as misconduct / misfeasance in public office, perverting the course of justice or similar offenses.

Please list offenses committed and the local authority that used their services.

Yours faithfully,

Caroline Pickering

Your email has been received by GMP’s Freedom of Information mailbox.

If you are emailing a valid Freedom of Information request please treat
this as a formal acknowledgement of that request.

Your request will now be considered in accordance with the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 (the Act). You should receive a response within the
statutory timescale of 20 working days as defined by the Act (from when GMP
receives a valid request), subject to the information not being exempt or
containing a reference to a third party.

In some circumstances Greater Manchester Police may be unable to achieve
this deadline. If this is likely you will be informed and given a revised
time-scale at the earliest opportunity.

There may be a fee payable for the retrieval, collation and provision of
the information you request. If this is the case you will be informed and
the 20 working day timescale will be suspended until we receive payment
from you. If you choose not to make payment then your request will remain
unanswered.

Some requests may also require either full or partial transference to
another public authority in order to answer your query in the fullest
possible way. Again, you will be informed if this is the case.

However, should your email be in relation to another matter, it will be
responded to or redirected accordingly.

Thank you for contacting GMP.

Greater Manchester Police

Hi Caroline,

Thank you for your below request, which has been logged under ref GSA
2268/15.

I have since been to the information owners, and they have asked me to
clarify a couple of things with you before it can be processed:

1) Please could you provide a full list of occupations that you are
interested in

2) Please also specify a time frame that you require this information for

I should also point out at this stage that information relating to who any
potential offenders were working for at the time of an offence is not
recorded in a standard format - it may be that this information is held in
a free text field, but there is no guarantee that it is held. This is
something we can look into after the above has been provided.

Your request will be placed on hold in the meantime.

Regards,
Ben Goddard
