Dear Applicant,

Freedom of Information Act 2000 – Request for Information
Reference:   2457

Thank you for your request for information from Aintree University
Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The Trust has now completed its search for the information you requested.

Your FOI request and the Trusts response is set out below:

·         Could you tell me how much the Trust spent on interpreters
services in each of the past 5 financial years to date;  The top 5
countries where interpreters were used in each of those years;  If the
trust has access to interpeters face to face, over the phone on a 24/7
basis

Please find the information you have requested below we do have access to
interpreting services 24/7 telephone, face to face and British sign
language too:

I have provided the final figure for that financial year + the top 5
languages requested.  Our supplier `language line’  works in languages
only and not countries as that provides  them with the most accurate
method of providing an Interpreting service.  Therefore it would be
impossible to comment on whether the Arabic requests (for example) are
from one single country or from many (most likely many different
countries)

None the less the information is as follows:

·         FY 2013/2014 – £58,312.50 (Aintree NHS only started using LLS in
April 2013 for F2F)   Face to Face Interpreting Polish, Cantonese, Arabic,
Farsi, Mandarin

                £1,691.44 Telephone Interpreting Polish, Cantonese,
Mandarin, Slovak and Romanian

The following figures are for Telephone Interpreting only:

·         FY 2012/2013 – £786.83 Polish, Hungarian, Mandarin, Lithuanian,
Russian

·         FY 2011/2012 – £356.75 Polish, Kurdish, Cantonese, Russian,
Pashto

·         FY 2010/2011 – £219.58 Mandarin, Farsi, Polish, Somalian,
Lithuanian

·         FY 2009/2010 – £220.74 Cantonese, Polish, Slovak, Mandarin,
Turkish.

If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact
us.
