Dear Ulster University,

With EU students with the exception of Irish and some others now paying international fees.
1. What has been the decline in the number of EU students admitted this year?
2. Are any courses under threat?
3. If so which one's?

Yours faithfully,

Abdul Hai

Dear Abdul Hai

RESPONSE FOIA/21/189

We apologise for the delay in our response. Further to your Freedom of
Information request, please view Ulster University’s response as follows –

 1. What has been the decline in the number of EU students admitted this
year?

Please see below the number of EU students registered at the University
from 2018/19 to date.

These figures include all modes and levels of student in NI campuses in
each of the Academic Years listed.

Students from ROI are included in these figures.

Student Count EU students
2018/19 1942
2019/20 1882
2020/21 1888
2021/22 (to 1632*
date)

*2021/22 figures are to date (29/11/2021) and do not show a complete
picture for 21/22 as it does not yet account for late enrollers who enter
from December onwards.

2. Are any courses under threat?

The University does not have a reporting mechanism that could determine
this.  We regularly review and refresh course provision in order to
deliver a vibrant and relevant student learning experience, and in
response to student and industry feedback and demand.

3. If so which one's?

As above

If you are unhappy with how the University has dealt with your request you
may raise the matter under the University's internal review process for
FOI requests. Please submit written details of your appeal to Clare
Jamison, University Secretary, University of Ulster, Coleraine BT52 1SA,
email at [1][email address] The University will normally
undertake to issue a decision on an appeal within 20 working days of
receipt.

If you do not wish to submit an appeal to the University in relation to
your request or if you are unhappy with the outcome of an appeal you may
apply to the Office of the Information Commissioner. Full particulars of
the FOI Act including the Information Commissioner's address may be found
