Empty Homes

The request was refused by Sheffield City Council.

Dear Sheffield City Council,

Please can you provide me with:

(a) addresses of empty properties that are within your Council area identifying which are owned by the council or other public body and which are privately owned. and

(b) the names (and addresses) of the owners of those properties referred to in (a) and

(c) the date each property became vacant

If this could be supplied in a csv (spreadsheet) format this would certainly be appreciated.

Thank you

Yours faithfully,

Laura

Dear Laura,

Thank you for your recent request for information relating to Empty
Properties which we received on 29/05/18.

Unfortunately, Sheffield City Council cannot process your requests because
you have not given us your full name.  Section 8 of the Freedom of
Information Act states that you must give us your full name for a request
to be valid.

Could you please let us know your full name to enable us to process your
request.

For further guidance please see the Information Commissioners Office
Guidance “Recognising a request made under the Freedom of Information Act”
– in particular the section entitled “Name of the applicant”, on the link
below:

[1]http://ico.org.uk/for_organisations/guid...

Sheffield City Council does not provide the individual address details of
empty properties where we do hold records as we consider this to put such
locations at risk of crime and therefore meet an exemption under Section
31 of the Act.

We would hold limited data in regard to your request in reference to empty
commercial or Council Tax applicable properties which are subject to
exemptions or recording as empty. This may not include ownership details
which would be accessible via the land registry for a fee. We could likely
provide statistical information on empty properties if this would assist
with your enquires and if you would like to amend your request
accordingly.

In the meantime, if you have any queries please contact us on 0114
2734567.

Thank you.
