Dear Mr Fowler,

Thank you for your information request of 29 April 2019.  Aberdeen City
Council (ACC) has completed the necessary search for the information
requested. Our response is now detailed below.

Please advise if Aberdeen Children Services have access to emergency
residential accommodation in the Aberdeen area for children with a
diagnosis of autism spectrum condition.

Aberdeen Children’s Services use Local Commissioned Providers for Children
with Disabilities on the Autistic Spectrum for emergency Residential
Accommodation.

Are children with autism taken out with the area for emergency respite
care?

Children with autism are taken out with the area only on very rare
occasions, when Local Providers cannot provide a service for a particular
Child. Each child is assessed according to their needs and the family
circumstances.

Please advise if Aberdeen Children Services Staff have specific autism
supports / training  for parents who are struggling with their children's
challenging behaviour?

The Autism Outreach Service and Grampian Autistic Service provide support
to Parents of Autistic Children.

What level of autism training do children social workers who are involved
in supporting families in crisis due to their child's autism challenging
behaviour?

Specific Training has been provided to specialist staff working in this
field.

How much money was spend last year on training social work staff in autism
specific family support?

Each Service within ACC has a general training budget which covers staff
training including social work staff. ACC does not hold specific
information on the money spent to train social work staff in autism
specific family work as it is included in the general training budget.

ACC is unable to provide you with information on how much money was spent
last year on training social work staff in autism specific family support
as it is not held by ACC.  In order to comply with its obligations under
the terms of Section 17 of the FOISA, ACC hereby gives notice that this
information is not held by it.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE HANDLING OF YOUR REQUEST

ACC handled your request for information in accordance with the provisions
of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002. Please refer to the
attached PDF for more information about your rights under FOISA.
