Electronic and Information Engineering Undergraduate Admissions statistics

The request was partially successful.

Dear Imperial College London,

Could you please provide a spreadsheet showing the admissions statistics (number of applicants, number of interview offers, number of offers sent, number of successful applications) at your college for HG65 BEng Electronic and Information Engineering and GH56 MEng Electronic and Information Engineering per year for the last 5 years?

Could you please also provide a second spreadsheet showing the same statistics for mature students only?

Yours faithfully,

Alex Hights

Dear Mr Hights

Thank you for your recent Freedom of Information request. Please find below the College's response to your questions.

Please find attached a spreadsheet with data for the two courses for the past five years. The notes on the spreadsheet contain important details about the figures being provided.

Table 1 on the spreadsheet shows the figures for applications, interviews, offers made, and places confirmed, split by fee status. Please note that interview data is derived from Departmental records and is therefore not directly comparable to the other figures in the table.

Table 2 on the spreadsheet shows the figures for applications, offers made, and places confirmed for mature students. The Department does not hold the information about the number of interviews for mature students.

In all cases, figures of five or fewer, including zero, have been replaced by an asterisk. This is because otherwise individuals may be identifiable from the data provided. This information is therefore exempt from disclosure under Section 40 (2) of the Freedom of Information Act.

Please also note that the College intends to publish statistical information about course admissions, by the end of 2019, and we will link to this information from our Publication Scheme webpages: https://www.imperial.ac.uk/admin-service...

If you are unhappy with the way that we have handled your request, you can ask us to conduct a review. Please make your representation in writing within 40 days of the date you received this response. If you remain dissatisfied with how Imperial College has handled your request you may then approach the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Kind regards,

Freedom of Information Team

Dear IMPFOI,

Thank you very much for your response. I completely understand the reasons behind having to use asterisks where there are less than 5 people. However, as you may also understand, this strips a good portion of the data of its meaning. I was wondering if it would be possible for you to give percentages instead of numbers for the data that represent less than 5 people.

Yours sincerely,

Alex Hights
