Education Committee co-opted members
Dear Cambridgeshire County Council,
Can you please let me know:
1) Does Cambridgeshire County Council education committee include any co-opted (non-councillor) members?
2) If yes to Q1, do co-opted members have full privileges of councillor members on the committee, i.e. do they have voting rights?
3) If yes to Q1, Please provide information on the co-opted members:
a) is there a process for their being co-opted?
b) are they co-opted to represent a specific group or organisation?
c) do they have specific titles associated with their position?

At the present time the Information Governance Team, the service which deals with requests made under the Freedom of Information and Data Protection Acts as well as EIR and GDPR, and other Council services are under great pressure due to the impact of the Coronavirus. Cambridgeshire County Council has now considered your request under the
Freedom of Information Act. We can confirm that we do hold the information
requested by you. Please find our response as set out below.
Your request:
1. Does Cambridgeshire County Council education committee include
any co-opted (non-councillor) members?

Our response:
1. At Cambridgeshire County Council it is the Children and Young
People Committee that is responsible for exercising the Council’s
functions relating to education and schools. This committee has two
co-opted members.
2. The two co-opted members on the Children and Young People
Committee have voting rights on those matters relating to the Council’s
education functions. They may speak but not vote on other matters.
3. a) The two co-opted members are nominated by their respective
organisations and are then co-opted onto the committee at its next
meeting.
b) The co-opted members represent the Church of England Diocese of Ely and
the Roman Catholic Diocese of East Anglia.
c) No.
