Hello Ms. Lay,

May I ask how the decision to designate documents as either 'internal' or public is made? And if there is a policy document that has the details of this designation process that I may be sent?

Are all publicly designated documents then in turn expected to be made available on the corporate website or in the Central Library? And then if there is a policy that details the procedures for uploading onto the corporate website or placing in the Central Library the publicly designated documents, may I be sent a copy?

Finally, may I ask if there is a catalogue of internally designated documents that is available to Members and the Public to scrutinise, and that if this is so I be sent a copy?

Yours sincerely,

Mr. J. M. Keenan

Pheng Lay, Hackney Borough Council

Dear Mr Keenan,

Thank you for your email of 07 February 2011. The Council does not have
a policy of designating documents as 'internal' or public.

Information on the types of information the Council routinely makes
available can be found on the following page.
http://www.hackney.gov.uk/publication-sc.... The Council produces
approximately 3,500 documents a day. If we receive a request for
information for a document/ information which is not routinely
published, we consider this as a request under the Freedom of
Information Act on a case by case basis.

Yours sincerely

Hello Ms. Lay,

Thanks for your reply. 3,500 documents per day is about one per member of staff, 17,500 every week, or just under a million every year!

May I have a copy of the one document that details how these documents are divided into segments and the totals of each segment? And if there is a separate document that details the working hours and even the strategic importance of these segments then that would also be of use, that is if these documents are available to public inspection?

Also, do you know if there is a forward plan at all for non-key decisions as I'm unable to locate the document that details the business of the Council used by the Scrutiny Chairs and the Head of Scrutiny to programme their activities? If there is and if it is available to public inspection then, may I be sent a copy?

Yours sincerely,

Mr. J. M. Keenan
