Dear London Strategic Health Authority,

E COLI

I am requesting information about E Coli identified in a catheterised urinary sample in the South London Healthcare NHS Trust on 19 April 2011.

I wish to know specifically which TYPE of E Coli this was identified to be.

And what is the recommended treatment for this type of E Coli please?

How is E Coli best treated with someone who has an indwelling catheter? Should the catheter be removed and incontinence pads be given as an alternative?

What symptoms are there of E Coli?

Can it lead to people feeling very unwell indeed?

Can people be considered to have pseudo-psychotic symptomatology on the back of such an infection?

How long is the incubation period?

Thank you very much for your help in this matter

Yours sincerely,

Dear London Strategic Health Authority,

You perhaps have not realised that I made a Freedom of Information Request over the weekend, so I am asking that you look out for it please.

Thank you very much for your help.

I look forward to having your response by 12 January 2012 with the information I seek.

Yours sincerely,

Dear Kevin, Freedom of Information (NHS London),

Thank you very much for explaining that NHS London does not have the information I seek.

Could I possibly ask you if NHS London is going to be kept going in the new NHS structure and what the remit of NHS London is, because if you do not hold information such as E Coli, how do you survey what the hospital trusts are doing, or is that not your remit to monitor the Trusts?

It would be very helpful to know please.

Thank you so much

best wishes

Dear Kevin, London Strategic Health Authority,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I thank you for your response and would be grateful, please, if you could answer my adapted Freedom of Information Request that I made yesterday, instead. It concerns the very constitution of NHS London and what is happening to it under the new NHS reorganisation. What is the longer term future of NHS London and all strategic health authorities eg in April 2012, April 2013, April 2014, April 2015 and beyond?

Does NHS London have a long-term future or is it being reconfigured and split up, or what? And what are its specific terms of reference, currently, and in the future?

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address:
http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/e_...

With best wishes and many thanks
