Dear Yuemei Jiang

Thank you for your request for information from Durham University.
Colleagues have provided the information below in response to your
questions.

May I ask that you provide me with the admission statistics for all of
your undergraduate programs for each admission cycle from 2006-07 to
2020-21:

1.For each individual undergraduate programme:

By applicant A-level, IB courses and AP course combination:

1)Minimum, Mean, Maximum Number of GCSE A*s and A-level A*s/IB score/AP
score for all applicants

2)Minimum, Mean, Maximum Number of GCSE A*s and A-level A*s/IB score/AP
score for applicants who received an offer

3)Minimum, Mean, Maximum Number of GCSE A*s and A-level A*s/IB score/AP
score for applicants who registered (accepted the offer and registered)

The above information can be in one spreadsheet, split into sheets by
undergraduate programme. Alternatively, it can be in multiple spreadsheets
by undergraduate programme.

2.In a separate spreadsheet, for each undergraduate programme, please
provide:

1)Number of applications

2)Number of offers

3)Number of registrations

--> Split each of the above numbers by :

Number of female applicants

Number of white applicants

Number of Asian applicants

Number of Black applicants

Number of mixed ethnicity applicants

Number of applicants of other ethnicities

Number of applicants who are Chinese nationals

It is estimated that the time taken to locate, retrieve and extract the
requested information would exceed the fees limit associated with the
Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA). Under Section 12 of the FOIA, the
University is not obliged to comply with a request for information if the
cost of compliance would exceed a £450 threshold, a figure which equates
to approximately 18 hours of work spent searching/retrieving and
extracting requested information.

You may wish to consider narrowing your request to bring it within the
cost limit.  Colleagues have advised that within cost/time limits it would
be possible to provide:

 1. For each UG programme for the admissions cycle 2009-10 onwards (we do
not hold this data in a reportable format prior to 2008/9 and A* A
levels grades were only introduced from 2010 )

• Minimum, mean and max no. A* at A level for applicants, offer holders
and registered students

We do not hold the data for AP& IB qualifications in a reportable format
and the time taken to process the GCSE data would exceed the time limit

 2. 1, 2, & 3 – we can provide this information for admission cycles
2008-09 onwards

Please could you let us know if this will be acceptable to you or if you
have any suggestions of how you wish to refine the request.  Please note
that it may be possible that exemptions may be relevant to any refined
request.

If you are dissatisfied with the University’s response to your freedom of
information request, you can ask us to internally review our handling of
your request, including the application of any exemptions applied.  To do
this, please email [Durham University request email]

Please state the grounds on which you wish the decision to be reviewed and
enclose any other information that may be useful in considering the matter
further.  We aim to inform you of our decision within 20 working days from
the date your request for internal review is received.

If you are not satisfied with the results of the internal review you may
apply to the Information Commissioner's Office for an independent review.
