Dear Mr Neil,

Please find attached a table detailing the domestic travel expenses
claimed by the Director of Research and Innovation Services in the
period you specify. As with your earlier request, the table includes the
purpose and destination of each trip.

Similarly, in respect of the benefit to the University and to the wider
public, the Director of RIS is required as part of his duties to attend
business meetings, conferences, training and other events to represent
the University, secure opportunities and make contacts that directly
benefit the University's research function. The Director also represents
the University on the Board of several companies, for example the IA
Centre and Targeting Innovation. These duties necessitate regular
attendance at Board meetings in Dundee and Glasgow.

Research is a cornerstone of the University's role, articulated in the
Strategic Vision (

).

The amounts listed in the attached document were reclaimed by the
Director of RIS from the University.

Yours sincerely,

Alan Bell
Records Manager and
Information Compliance Officer
