Dear J Jarvis
Thank you for your email of 28 February 2021 to the General Register
Office (GRO) regarding your birth registration.
Your request has been handled as official correspondence rather than as a
request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000,
although this does not mean that your enquiry has been actioned any
differently or that the information provided contains any less content or
detail.
It is not clear from your correspondence where you have researched the
details regarding your birth registration so, with that in mind, the
following information may be of use to you.
Both the local registration service and GRO are required, under the Births
and Deaths Registration Act 1953, to produce a central index for these
registrations. The information contained in the indexes enables a basic
search to assist in the identification of an entry, without releasing
other information contained in the registration entry, as legally this can
only be released in the form of a certified copy of an entry (a hard copy
certificate) or a PDF on payment of a statutory fee. The following
document contains further information on indexes

I hope this information is useful.
Yours sincerely
