Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency Nid oedd gan y wybodaeth y gofynnwyd amdani.

Dear Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency,

In March 2020 the UK government confirmed that covid 19 was no longer a

Can you therefore confirm the following
1) As covid 19 is not a HCID, what type/kind of disease is covid 19 classified as?
2) Is covid 19 a more dangerous disease than HCID's?

We are told covid 19 spreads and transmission occur through contact and airborne, just as HCID's do, therefore, for covid 19 not to be a HCID it must mean that it isn't an acute infectious disease where typically there is
A)a high case-fatality rate
B)may not have effective prophylaxis or treatment
C)often difficult to recognise and detect rapidly
D)ability to spread in the community and within healthcare settings
E)requires an enhanced individual, population and system response to ensure it is managed effectively, efficiently and safely?

3) Which of these identifiers of a HCID does covid 19 not have?, for the government to not class it as a HCID?

4) What are the indicators outwith these and included in the HCID does covid 19 identity, that isn't found in the HCID identifiers?

Yours faithfully,

Miss G Simpson

Dear Miss Simpson

I don't think the MHRA are the appropriate authority to be asking these question. I would suggest the DHSC and PHE.
