Disciplinary, Grievance and Capability

We're waiting for Elkin Johnstone to read recent responses and update the status.

Elkin Johnstone

Dear University of Gloucestershire,

I am researching the changing face of HE and it's people in the face of constrained resources.

1) Please provide the number of disciplinary investigations undertaken in the last 5 years. For avoidance of doubt, I mean investigations which have taken place before any formal disciplinary procedure has been invoked. Please provide details of this on an annual basis until present date.

2) Please provide the data, identifying organisational units. i.e. school and professional services department, or, faculty and directorate, whichever was relevant to the data for each year.

3) In addition to the above information please provide how many of these investigations went to a formal disciplinary procedure and what type of disciplinary action was issued on each occasion (if any) in terms of your own procedure such as No Action, Written Warning, Final Written Warning, etc.

4) Please provide the number of grievances submitted during the same time period, again broken down annually in the same way. Please also provide details as to how many of these grievances were deemed competent to be heard under the grievance procedures.

5) In addition to this information please detail how many grievances were upheld and how many of these grievances were individual and how many of these grievances were collective.

6) Please state how many grievances were raised about bullying/ harassment/ victimisation, and how many of these were upheld.

7) Please also provide details of the number of staff reviewed both formally and informally under your Staff Capability Policy and state the number of cases, year on year since, which reached first formal stage of this policy.

8) Please indicate your staff turnover each year in the same period. For the avoidance of doubt I mean the number of staff who have resigned or otherwise and it has been deemed necessary to replace them, as a percentage of the total workforce. Should members of staff taken early retirement Voluntary Severance/Exit Packages, I do not expect these staff to be included in either part of the calculation (that is to say the number of leavers/replacements or the total workforce).

Please acknowledge receipt of this request and I shall look forward to receiving this information within the 20 working day statutory limit.

Yours faithfully
Elkin Johnstone

Dear Freedom of Information,

I have had a clarification request from another organisation and I realise now my request may be ambiguous. Just for clarity and hopefully making things simpler for you, I am only looking for data related to staff, not students.

Apologies if this was not clear form my original request.

Yours sincerely,

Elkin Johnstone
