Thank you for your request which has been dealt with under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 (FOIA). You requested the following information, to
which I have appended our response.

 

1.       How has the impact of COVID changed your ICT/Cloud/Digital
strategy over the last year 2020/2021?  Can you detail the changes
implemented and the changes you are planning to implement over the next 3
/6 /12 months?

a.       We moved to predominantly home and agile working very quickly in
response to the Covid pandemic. This included extending the provision of
Microsoft Direct Access to all IT device users, the new provision of
Microsoft Teams and Zoom across the workforce, accelerating our ongoing
migration to M365, supplying headsets for call centre officers and
undertaking various improvements to our technical connectivity to meet the
new demands of the remote working environment. We are currently reviewing
the short- and medium-term measures that were implemented over the last
year to align some/all of the technical revisions with the Council’s
emerging permanent service delivery strategy.

 

2.       What modern technologies are you looking to implement and when
over the next 3/6/12 months? Examples of modern technologies are: big data
analytics, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality,
Augmented Reality, Modernised Intranet/Digital Workplace/Machine
Learning/Robotics

a.       We are constantly assessing the value and impact of implementing
some of the newer technologies. We are currently committed to deploying at
least one IoT pilot in the Borough over the coming months and we are in
the midst of designing our approach to a new digital workplace based on
the lessons learned during the ongoing pandemic response.

 

3.       What is your Cloud strategy?

a.       We adopt a ‘Cloud First’ approach, first considering whether any
relevant technologies will be best-served by being based in the Cloud.

 

4.       Where does your server infrastructure sit currently? Azure
/AWS/Google (% in Cloud/On-Premises)?

a.       90% on premise, 10% in Cloud (AWS, 365/Azure).

 

5.       How many physical servers on premises and virtual machines?

a.       14 physical servers and 102 virtual machines.

 

6.       How many IT users vs number of staff do you have?

a.       Approximately 550 IT users from a total workforce of 643.

 

7.       How many endpoint devices and types are connected to your
network?

a.       Laptops: 461; Tablets: 89; Desktops: 33; Printers: 62;

 

8.       How do you monitor your IT network and environment?

a.       Using various tools and techniques, including performance,
capacity and load monitoring, cyber-security monitoring and environmental
monitoring.

 

9.       Do you outsource any IT Services? If so, please can you outline
the IT outsource agreements you have and when they are due for renewal?

a.       No.

 

10.   Who is your go to Partner for Cloud Services assessments and advice?

a.       Currently, Phoenix Software.

 

11.   Who is your Microsoft Licensing Partner and when is your licensing
agreement/s due for renewal?

a.       Phoenix Software. Three year licence agreement is due for renewal
in July 2022.

 

12.   Which person, in your Organisation, is responsible for your digital
transformation strategies and decisions?

15.   How are you managing to keep people connected to support
Productivity and Collaboration in the new norm of remote working?

a.       Greater use of video and voice call platforms, optimising
corporate IT systems and software for remote working, a move to more
mobile IT devices, ongoing migration to M365, new performance management
system to support move to more outcome-based objectives.
