Details of Previous Request Not Provided Re: Assistance Messages and Calls

The request was refused by Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.

Dear Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service,

Please would you note that that you have not provided the information that I requested and the information is still required in respect of:

1. I wanted details of all calls and assistance messages including times and content - not an overview.
2. I also wanted to know if calls originated from land lines, mobiles, automatic fire alarms or commercial receiving centres.

Yours faithfully,

Alan Cox

Dear Mr Cox,

Thank you for your email of 16 November 2016 where you requested
information about Assistance Messages and Calls to the fire at 18
Cathedral Yard on 28 October 2016.

We have now conducted a review and the decision is upheld in part for the
following reasons:

1.     I wanted details of all calls and assistance messages including
times and content - not an overview.

As previously advised, it is intended that a report will be provided and
will be publically available through our website which will include key
information in relation to the fire, activities of the service and others.
We do not have an immediate date to know when we can release this. We
cannot release this information at present or any more detailed
information for the reasons presented in the table below:

made by the authority to the
procurator fiscal ”, and

(c)for any reference to a
person being charged with an
offence there is substituted a
reference to the person being
prosecuted for the offence.

2. I also wanted to know if calls originated from land lines, mobiles,
automatic fire alarms or commercial receiving centres.

The majority were from mobile phones, a few were from landlines. Calls
received several hours after initial call, some from callers a
considerable distance away.

DSFRS does not monitor any Automatic Fire Alarms directly in the Control
Room and none were received from Alarm Receiving Centres so far.

If you are not content with the outcome of the internal review, you have
the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a
decision. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at: Information
Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9
5AF.

Yours sincerely,
