Details of equality impact assessment carried out in respect of abortion legislation

Dear Department of Health (Northern Ireland),U

Under the Freedom of Information Act please provide me with the following information:

1. Details of Equality Impact Assessment (EQIA) carried out in respect of the implementation of Abortion Legislation in Northern Ireland. What were it's terms of reference? What potential adverse effect were considered againt the requirements of the Northern Ireland Act?
2. Was an EQIA carried out?
3. If not carried out why was it not and was this not contrary to Equality Law in NI?
4. If one was carried out was it considered that the new regulations under the Abortion Legislation may run contrary to Disability Law?
5. Was it considered that the new Law and regulations under it may have an adverse impact in terms of Race?
6. Did EQIA indicate that the new Abortion Law may not be compatible with Northern Ireland Domestic Law?
7. Was Legal Advise on any equality issues sought from Departmental Solicitors? and was Department satisfied that the new Abortion Law was not potentially in conflict with NI Domestic Law?
8. Please provide any copies of any documents relevant to above questions.

The staff who would be required to respond to your query below are all specifically engaged in Covid -19 work as well as others who have been re-deployed from their normal duties. Although we would not normally ask, would you consider withdrawing your request until the current situation eases?

Obviously if you want I can forward your request to the business area responsible for answering your request, however I must tell you that at this time it is unlikely that a response will be sent to you within the legislative timeframe
