I received a simple breakdown along the following lines:
1. half of the £39bn is for UK contributions that will be due to the EU taking us to the end of the transition period (Dec 2020)
2. The rest is for other commitments that the UK has already entered into with the EU.
It was not quite the detailed list that I was hoping for, but I guess it gives me some comfort that they have not just plucked the £39billion out of the air.
