Dear Northern Ireland Road Safety Partnership,

Please can you provide information for the following queries. Please take the commencement date as 1st March 2020 for all queries that relate to a request for statistics.

1) Are the deployments of the safety van decided by the operator or another means. If another means please provide what that is.

2) In respect of the roads in this link (https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/typ...) are vans able to deploy at other roads not on this list at the discretion of the operator or otherwise?

3) Please provide the numbers of times a van has been deployed to the following towns/area. Please accept each road within that town as one deployment. For example if the van is deployed at three different roads in Newtownabbey please count this as three deployments in that town.

1) Bangor
2) East Belfast
3) West Belfast
4) Carrickfergus
5) Derry City
6) Enniskillen
7) Newry

FREEDOM of INFORMATION ACT 2000

I write in connection with your request for information dated 3rd June
2020 which was received by the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI)
on 3rd June 2020.  I note you seek access to the following information:

Are the deployments of the safety van decided by the operator or another
means?

Given the unprecedented challenges PSNI and other first line emergency
responders face during the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic we may not be
able to respond to your request within the statutory timescales set out
under FOI and data protection legislation and are unlikely to be able to
respond to email queries about requests in a timely fashion. Please accept
our apologies for this.

We  are working to support partner agencies to ensure critical public
health information is available during this time. Further up to date
information can be found on the public health Agency NI website at:
www.publichealth.hscni.net.

We are asking all requesters to consider re-submitting their requests at a
later date when PSNI has returned to business as usual. This will assist
PSNI to concentrate as much resource in responding to this emergency.
Please can you let us know if you now wish us to close your request. It
would be of assistance if you could let us know if you wish to withdraw
your request at this time by  10th June 2020

We have been in contact with the  Information Commissioner’s Office to
highlight the critical changes that will be required to our business in
the weeks and months ahead. They have let us know that they have made
guidance for the public available on their website relating to requests
being processed during  the Corona virus pandemic .  We will continue to
work closely with the Information Commissioner throughout this crisis
keeping them informed.
