Roedd y cais yn llwyddiannus.

Dear East Dunbartonshire Leisure & Culture,

Request under the Freedom of Information Act

I write to request the following information held by your authority under the terms set in the Freedom of Information Scotland Act (FoISA).

I am interested in the usage of Automatic External Defibrillator devices, particularly in high throughput environs such as Leisure Centres, so would be obliged if you would disclose the following information under the act:

* How many (if any) AED devices does your authority own?
* How many (if any) are deployed in Leisure Centres / Pools, and in what centres?
* How many (if any) are deployed in non Leisure sites, i.e. Libraries, Museums, Community Hubs etc.

If the answers to the questions above are not negative (i.e. nil response):
* Is there a policy or procedure for usage of these devices, and if so, how many staff at sites with AED are trained to use / operate them? Can you disclose the policy?
* How often are these devices checked to ensure they are functioning as expected, i.e. that their batteries are in order etc. Is there a maintenance schedule / guidance, and if so, could you provide a copy?

I trust you will find my request to be in order, and look forward to receiving your response within the usual 20 working day period.

Yours faithfully,

Martyn Dewar

Dear Martyn

Thank for your Freedom of Information request.

Here is the information we can provide:-

* How many (if any) AED devices does your authority own?

3

* How many (if any) are deployed in Leisure Centres / Pools, and in
what centres?

1 in each of 3 Leisure centres. Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre,
Allander Leisure Centre and Leisuredrome.

* How many (if any) are deployed in non Leisure sites, i.e. Libraries,
Museums, Community Hubs etc.

None in any of our libraries, museum or gallery.
You would need to contact East Dunbartonshire Council for
information on Community Hubs.

If the answers to the questions above are not negative (i.e. nil
response):
* Is there a policy or procedure for usage of these devices, and if
so, how many staff at sites with AED are trained to use / operate them? Can
you disclose the policy?

No specific policy in place,
Kirkintilloch have 10 trained staff.
Allander have 15
Leisuredrome have 18

* How often are these devices checked to ensure they are functioning
as expected, i.e. that their batteries are in order etc. Is there a
maintenance schedule / guidance, and if so, could you provide a copy?

The devices are checked on a daily basis by one of the management
team as part of the facility inspection and maintenance procedures. This
includes checking the battery power status and that the electrode pads are
in date. We carry both adult and child electrode pads. Replacement
batteries and pads etc are purchased as and when required.
There is no external maintenance company in place for this machine.
Checks are all done in - house.
