Good afternoon Mr Barry,
Firstly, please accept my apologies for the lateness of this reply.
Questions posed:
We have recently been informed by cabinet members that extra money is
being given to cleaning town centre. Could you
1 Give us the current budget for this cleaning that these figures are
based on
2 Give us the previous budget for the cleaning that the increase is based
on
Below is the current 19/20 budget breakdown for the Town Centre:
Employees - £533,200
Premises - £33,700 (public conveniences utilities and business rates)
Fuel - £11,700
Supplies & Services - £25,400 (£20,800 of this is for equipment, cleaning
and materials supplies)
Linked below is the Cabinet report where the Strategic Spending Plan
Priorities is detailed. As you will see, an overall figure has been agreed
for each priority. The money for cleaning will be spent on a range of
services and equipment, some of which has already taken place and been in
the press. Others are yet to be decided. This money is not linked to the
base line budget of the Council and the services / equipment is being
agreed on an individual basis with the Portfolio Holder.

1) Firstly, to confirm, we do not have a deep clean machine. I believe
you are referring to our Hot Wash Machine, which is not a deep clean. The
Hot Wash went off the road 9^th July 2018 and was back on the road on
31^st July 2018.
2) We did not hire a replacement and so do not have this cost.
3) We hired an external company as part of the Strategic Priorities
Spending Plan to deep clean the High Street only. This cost was
£12,500.00.
4) This had been agreed as part of the spending priorities work around
23^rd July 2018.
Many thanks
Cassandra
