Dear Pharmacovigilanceservice,

This is not the information I asked for, I am not interested in reported yellow card events. I would like to know since the start of the vaccine rollout, month by month how many people have died within 28 days of receiving a coronavirus vaccination.

Yours sincerely,

Tony Bartlett

Pharmacovigilanceservice, Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency

Dear Mr Bartlett,

Thank you for your email. It may help if I first explain the role of the MHRA. The MHRA is the executive Agency of the Department of Health and Social Care that acts to protect and promote public health and patient safety, by ensuring that medicines and medical devices meet appropriate standards of safety, quality and efficacy.

The MHRA operates the Yellow Card scheme on behalf of the Commission on Human Medicines (CHM). The scheme collects and monitors information on suspected safety concerns or incidents involving vaccines, medicines, medical devices, and e-cigarettes.

You have asked for the total number of people who have died after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine, unfortunately we do not hold this information as we do not collect complete fatality data. The Office of National Statistics may be able to help with this part of your request

Reports received through our Yellow Card scheme include some fatality reports and these can be viewed by following the link below:
