Deaths mentioning DWP

Roedd y cais yn llwyddiannus.

Dear The Cornwall Coroner,

From the information held please kindly provide the total number of deaths from 1st January 2017 to the most recent available where those cases mention The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

Yours faithfully,

Gemma Partridge

Brant Lorna, The Cornwall Coroner

Dear Gemma,

Thank you for your email and Freedom of Information request. To assist me in responding adequately to your request, it would be helpful if you could give me a little more information.

Do you mean where the DWP has been involved in the death in some way?

We do sometimes have correspondence with the DWP but that would usually be on an inquest case where they require confirmation of the death/ the cause of death. In cases where we do liaise, we would acknowledge their correspondence and advise of the inquest date once known. After the inquest we would send them a copy of the Record of Inquest which is a document which confirms the cause of death and the Coroner's conclusion.

I hope this information assists, please do come back to me if I can help further.

Kind regards,

Dear Brant Lorna,

We deeply appreciate your response. Yes we are only interested in cases where it is believed there is some connection between the DWP and the death of individuals - especially where the Coroner believes there is a connection.

Yours sincerely,

Dear Gemma,

Thank you for your email. I can confirm that there have not been any deaths in anyway related to the DWP in the Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Coroner's Area.
