Dates/Rank

Roedd y cais yn rhannol lwyddiannus.

Dr Emma L Briant

Dear Ministry of Defence,

Please could I ask former Lieutenant Commander Steve Tatham's start date working for the UK military, intial rank, exact date of each change of rank and those corresponding ranks, and the exact date he left service and what rank he was when he left service on that date please.

Please could you tell me if he then continued as a reserve officer continuously after this date and if that continues to be his service relationship now ie is he still a reservist. I appreciate your time and assistance.

Yours faithfully,

Dr Emma L Briant

Dear Dr Briant,

Your request has been logged under our reference FOI2020/06141. The
Freedom of Information Act requires a response to be provided to a request
under the Act within 20 working days from date of receipt and we therefore
aim to respond to you by 25 June 2020. Whilst we are working hard to
achieve this, due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic and the effect on
resources and necessary changes to ways of working, we should advise that
it may take longer to provide a substantive response to some requests.

Yours sincerely

Dear Ministry of Defence,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Ministry of Defence's handling of my FOI request 'Dates/Rank'.

While some information you hold may be sensitive, this is a very publicly known Commander and a figure who has worked for a company embroiled in significant public inquiries. It is therefore of significant public interest and not unreasonable that you make available as much information as you can please. Information such as this should not be highly sensitive or put anyone at risk, it's a matter of transparency.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/d...

Yours faithfully,

Dr Emma L Briant

Dear Dr Briant,

Thank you for your email of 6 September 2020.

In the substantive response under reference FOI2020/06141 dated 3 June
2020, you were advised that any request for an internal review should be
made within 40 working days of the date of this letter, in this case by 30
July 2020. I note that the correct contact details, including email
address, were provided to you.

However, your complaint to this office has been made outside of this
timeframe. If you can provide any evidence of special circumstances that
delayed you in submitting your complaint, we would make an exception in
this case and conduct an independent internal review.

Yours sincerely,

MOD Information Rights Compliance Team

Dear CIO-FOI-IR (MULTIUSER),

I am a writer and an academic - we have all been dealing with a global pandemic which has taken its toll on global economies, families, careers - added extreme pressures and delays to our work. My own included. This is something that has affected response times for Freedom of Information request responses which requesters like myself have of course treated with patience and understanding. I would be grateful for your own understanding about my delayed response during what has been a truly uniquely difficult period.

Any information I provide will be publicly accessible as I am writing via 'whatdotheyknow.com' - therefore I request that you take this limitation into account and permit me a full response to my appeal without requiring me to submit explicit evidence of the hardships I have experienced during this time.

Yours sincerely,

Dr Emma L Briant
