Data on Secondary School Admissions from Basildon

The request was successful.

Dear Essex County Council,

Thank you for previous information you have provided to me in 2015/16. This was very much appreciated. I would now like an update to inform residents in relation to the emerging Basildon Local Plan. The information I require can be taken from admissions data for Essex Secondary Schools.

I would like the information separately for the two most recent years for which the information is available.

I would also like the information separately for the 6 population groups with addresses given in postcode areas of Basildon starting with SS15 4, SS15 5, SS15 6, SS16 4, SS16 5, SS16 6.

For each year and postcode group I would like the following data:
(Please exclude those who withdrew from the process. The numbers should be based on the initial allocations and do not need to take into account any subsequent appeals or changes for other reasons.)

- The total number of students who applied for secondary schools through the Essex County admission system for a place at a secondary school (year 7)
- The number who were allocated their first choice of secondary school
- The number who were allocated their second choice of secondary school
- The number who were allocated their third choice of secondary school
- The number who were NOT allocated their 1st, 2nd or 3rd choices of secondary school
- a list of secondary schools which they were allocated to and the number accepted into each school.

Yours faithfully,

Philip Gibbs

Dear Oliver Sharpe,

Thank you for sending this information for which I am very grateful.

I notice that none of the schools in Thurrock or Southend are included in the tables you have provided. I realise that these are unitary authorities, but I understand that people living on Basildon still have to apply for these schools through the Essex Admission scheme. I expect there to be some pupils from this area who were accepted into the grammar schools in Southend, or into nearby schools in Thurrock such as Gable Hall or St Cleres.

In previous requests it has been possible for ECC to provide information on admissions to those schools too. If you are able to do that now please could that be done as it is an important part of the information I need.

Yours sincerely,

Philip Gibbs
