Cyril Smith MP Paedophile , file at Gt Manchester Police

The request was successful.

Dear Greater Manchester Police,

I believe you are carrying out a review of Cyril Smiths file.

Please could you tell me what this review is for and when it is due to finish?

Please could you state
How many complaints of sexual abuse were made against Cyril Smith?

How many of these complaints refer to abuse at Care Homes or similar and which these are?

Yours faithfully,

Phil Collyer

Dear Caroline ,Greater Manchester Police,

It is probably better if I reclarify the whole request, as I have had more information.

I believe that at least 3 times before 2000 files were passed to the DPP/CPS on behalf of Lancashire/GMP. Please could you give the dates and an outline of the offences and how many complainants and locations and what the DPP/CPS said each time, with a copy of the reply from DPP/CPS if held.

Please could you also outline what action has been taken or happened since 2000 and how many more complaints there have been.

What is the normal procedure eg just send file to CPS/DPP with a letter and wait, or without a letter , or is there ever another route as well eg to the attorney general, the home office, the mister of justice?

This would fit under s16 FOI 2000 advice and assistance

Yours faithfully,

Phil Collyer
