Glasgow Taxi Association

Dear Glasgow City Council,

The Licensing and Regulatory (L&R) Committee meetings to discuss Taxi and Private Hire matters are attended by Taxi and Private Hire operators, as well as trade representatives on behalf of their members/drivers.

Taxi representatives currently are GTL (operator) and Unite the Union Taxi Branch (mandated trade representative). Private Hire operators in attendance include Hampden, Network, Glasgow Private Hire.

In its efforts to become a trade representative, Unite the Union Taxi Branch was asked by GCC in writing to provide mandates for 10% of the total number of Taxi operators, which they did.

Another org that sits in on these meetings is the Scottish Ethnic Private Hire Welfare Association (SEPHWA).

1. Please set out the defined criteria necessary to gain a seat at the L&R Committee meetings on taxi and Private Hire matters.

2. Please give the number of mandates that SEPHWA has provided to GCC to gain a seat at the L&R Committee meetings.

3. Do GCC accept mandates from a trade representative for drivers that are already represented by an Operator in L&R meetings?

Yours faithfully,
Steven
