Covid-19 Precautions for Council-run Care Placements

The request was successful.

Dear Caerphilly County Borough Council,

Please could you provide me with details of what precautionary measures the councils care homes and care placements have implemented to reduce the risk of the spread of Covid-19 to individuals within your services? Specifically to those in the more vulnerable categories, such as those over the age of 70 and underlying medical conditions.

Yours faithfully,

Jo Andrews

Thank you for your request for information received on the 23^rd March

We have considered your request and enclose the following information -

Please could you provide me with details of what precautionary measures
the councils care homes and care placements have implemented to reduce the
risk of the spread of Covid-19 to individuals within your services?

Specifically to those in the more vulnerable categories, such as those
over the age of 70 and underlying medical conditions.

We have done the following to ensure that we do everything possible to
prevent Covid19 from affecting anyone in both CCBC and commissioned
services –

o Adhering to all guidance and legislation issued by Welsh Government
and that includes updated or amended documents.

o All guidance and legislation have been shared on a regular basis, as
and when necessary with all services, both in house and commissioned.

o The commissioning team has set up regular calls with all commissioned
services to ensure they are ok, check for any issues and concerns they
have and provide support to rectify any identified.

o Support with the provision of PPE where
necessary.

o Environmental Health Officers provide regular calls to care homes to
advise and guide on enhanced infection control, cleaning regimes, PPE
etc.

o Where it has been necessary to continue to provide support in the
community, comprehensive risk assessments are undertaken in order to
ensure appropriate and safe support.

o All guidance from Welsh Government and Public Health have been
implemented. All safety measures are in place and all risk assessments
are followed and kept under review. This includes the use of PPE,
social distancing, essential visitors to the Home, weekly testing of
care staff.

o All shielding guidance is followed that was issued from Welsh
Government and Public Health.
