Freedomofinformation, James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Dear Mr Truffles

As you will be aware, as a result of COVID-19, the NHS has returned to the highest alert level. The Trust has been directed to administer the COVID-19 immunisation programme and ensure that patient facing staff are tested twice weekly. As such, our resources are being diverted away from the usual compliance and information rights work to the effective long term management of the virus in line with the Government’s request. Whilst we recognise that statutory timescales cannot be extended, we apologise that there is likely to be a significant delay in responding to your request for information during this extraordinary period.

We will log your request at this time and review the situation in the New Year when it is hoped we will be in a position to respond within the statutory timeline

Many thanks

Freedomofinformation, James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Dear Mr Truffles

Thank you for your enquiry. Please accept my apologies for the delay in
responding to you due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As you will be aware from our previous correspondence in relation to your
request, the pandemic has affected some of our usual work which includes
the timescales for responding to Freedom of Information requests. The NHS
is currently on the highest alert level and in January the Covid alert
level increased to Level 5 reflecting the risk of healthcare services
being overwhelmed, with the continued rise in cases.

As such, our focus has been on providing the best care that we can to our
patients, supporting our staff and their health and wellbeing during this
difficult time and administering the COVID-19 immunisation programme. This
has included redeployment of staff into more critical roles to support
management of the pandemic.

In relation to your request, please find some information which I trust is
helpful, providing links to details already published by the Trust or
national information in the absence of more detailed data being available
at the current time:

Statistics relating to hospital deaths from COVID-19 are available from
the NHS website, with the process for reporting also specified nationally.
Here is the link to the relevant page:

To find the information about deaths at our hospital, please scroll down
to the section entitled ‘Data’ and click on the link entitled ‘COVID 19
total announced deaths (date)’; this will take you to an excel document
which has a series of tabs at the bottom. Click on the ‘deaths by trust’
tab to bring up a table which shows the number of patients who have died
from COVID-19 at every hospital trust in the country.

Deaths are also recorded on our website, including whether patients had
underlying health conditions. You can see these updates in the news
section on the home page of the site at [2]www.jpaget.nhs.uk

I trust that the links to information already published is helpful, whilst
this may not fully respond to the questions that you raise.

request and wish to request a review of our decision, you should write to
